The technical installation is complete. Now, you just need to activate the tracker in your store’s theme.
How to Activate the Tracker
Since this app works as a Theme Extension, you need to enable it inside your Shopify Theme Editor. Follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Open the Theme Editor
Go to your Shopify Admin, navigate to Online Store > Themes, and click the Customize button on your current theme.
Step 2: Go to App Embeds
On the left-hand sidebar, look for the App Embeds icon. It looks like a floating block or a paintbrush/gear icon, typically the third one down on the far left edge.
Step 3: Enable the Tracker
Find “Customer.io Tracker by Hyppo” in the list.
- Toggle the switch to ON (it should turn blue/black).
Step 4: Enter your Site ID
Click the small arrow next to the tracker name to expand the settings.
- Paste your Customer.io Site ID into the “Write Key” or “Site ID” field.
- (Note: You can find this ID in your Customer.io dashboard under Settings > Integrations > Javascript Snippet).
Step 5: Save
Click the Save button in the top right corner of the editor.
That’s it! Customer.io is now tracking visitors and events on your store.
